It is not quite Spring time just yet. In fact, as I sit here it is snowing Mid-February here in Idaho. Some of us call this the second Winter. Regardless, I am over here counting down the days until Spring arrives.
I long for early mornings out in the garden weeding and picking produce. Followed by play time in the dirt with my boys. Not to mention the exciting garden projects we have planned this year. Until I am able to embrace the Spring weather outdoors, I will enjoy it indoors!
Benefits of diffusing Essential Oils
There are several benefits to diffusing Essential Oils. The aromatic benefit of making your home smell fresh and clean is the most obvious. Store bought candles and wax warmers can often have negative affects on our bodies.
Diffusing Essential Oils can enhance our mood and actually cleanse the air. Doing so, strengthens the immune system to keep sickness away and keeps us joyful! This alone was enough reason for me to switch to using Essential Oils alone for aromatic benefits in my home.
Choosing an Essential Oil Brand
This is such an important step to really put thought into before you start buying Essential Oils to use. There are several brands out there and they are not created equal.
As a Wellness Advocate for doTERRA I get to enjoy the wholesale pricing on their products as well as earn free product and possible commissions. It is due to their purity that I have chosen to trust in them and their products. After all, we are talking about our health and what is being breathed directly into our bodies to target our cells.
Ensuring pure practices begins with choosing where to harvest the crop to distill, all the way to getting them into the hands of Essential Oil users and everything in between. I encourage you to do your research and be sure you are choosing a safe product to impact your families health.
How does a diffuser work?
A completely relevant question to be asking, diffusers work by releasing the Essential oil particles into the air via different delivery methods. The most common diffuser is an Ultrasonic diffuser. It works by using water to deliver the Essential Oil into the air for aromatic benefits. There are other diffusers such as Nebulizer diffusers and Heat diffusers, but Ultrasonic is the easiest to use and therefore, my favorite.

How many drops of Essential Oil to use
Determining the amount of drops you should use in your diffuser depends on the size of diffuser, size of the room where it’s being diffused, and your tolerance. Sometimes Essential Oils can cause negative symptoms such as nausea. This is because Essential Oils are effective to actually detox our bodies. If you experience this symptom, it means you have used too many drops. Generally, for stronger Essential Oils just a drop or two is sufficient.
If you are using a 100-200ml Essential Oil diffuser, 5-10 drops is sufficient. For a larger diffuser, you may end up using more like 15-20 drops. Just try out these amounts depending on your room size and see if they end up being too strong for you or not.
What Essential Oils are best for Spring?
I find that I tend to like the minty oils as well as citrus. My favorite Essential Oils to diffuse during the rainy months of Spring are oils like Rosemary, Lemon, Grapefruit. Mixing these oils with something grounding gives off such a fresh aroma.
