Before I began my DIY journey to create healthier options for use in my home, I’ll admit it was overwhelming. If that is you too, I would encourage you to just give it a try. Find the recipes with the simplest ingredients that you feel comfortable using in your home.
There was a time in our marriage, really the whole first 4 years where we needed to live on a low budget. That’s where it all began for me. My husband and I sat down, created a budget, and were forced to stick to it.
One thing that helped get us by and became so rewarding, for me, was creating our own DIY cleaning products that were safe and effective. The most important thing at the time was saving us money, these recipes did that for us as well.
A lot of All Natural cleaning recipes utilize the same ingredients. I recommend slowly accumulating the small handful of items you’ll need to do so. Once you do that, you are all set to start creating! It really is so simple, just see for yourself and give it a try.
What Essential Oils Are Best?
I was introduced to doTERRA Essential Oils about 10 years ago. Ever since then, I have become even more confident in their products safety and efficacy. This company does rigorous third party testing. They stand behind their promise to purity from where the plants are grown and harvested to distill, to getting the bottle into your hands. They are the only Essential Oil company I trust.
Whatever Essential Oil products you choose to use, just be sure they are CPTG. I highly encourage researching all the major companies and deciding what’s important to YOU in an Essential Oil company, before using their products. Not all Essential Oils are created equal.
Why make DIY household cleaners?
Household cleaning products often contain harmful ingredients. Ingredients that can cause disease and illness in our bodies. Once I had a family of my own, it became imperative to me to get those ingredients out of our home.
Most cleaning solutions can be replaced with a much healthier, natural option. DIY products are so simple to make, though they may seem intimidating at first. The use of Essential Oils in these recipes helps ensure their efficacy and even provide wonderful, clean aromas around your home. Here are some recipes we use every week in our home to keep our house clean and our bodies healthy too. I did a multi-purpose cleaner guest post on another blog, find that recipe here.
How To Store DIY Essential Oil Cleaners
Essential Oils are very strong. Just to give you an idea of how strong they are, here is an example. One drop of Peppermint Essential Oil, from doTERRA specifically, is equal to 28 cups of Peppermint tea! That being said, you cannot store them in just any container. Safe materials to store Essential Oil Cleaners in include: Stainless steel and glass. I recommend Amber glass because it makes sure the Essential Oils stay in a dark environment so they can last the longest and not be affected by sunlight.
If you try to store Essential Oils in a plastic container, it could eat away the plastic over time. It’s worth the small investment to stock up on a few Amber glass containers. Oil life has a large selection of storage containers. I personally buy most of my Essential Oil storage products from them.
