Baby number three is on the way for our family and that has only added to our busy work load. Between projects and daily chores around here, we stay plenty busy. Diffusing oils for the Spring Season helps add so much joy to our day as we get things done.

Busy life at our home
We have been working on backyard renovations recently. An old wooden play set was gifted to us. We plan to sand it down and put a new finish on it as well as replace some boards and screws. I have some extra sand from the yard we will use as for a sand box underneath the play set as well.
Another project we have begun is dining post holes to get the garden fence up for the new garden space. The plan was originally to have utilities marked and get the fence up using a gas auger a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, things didn’t get marked like they should have. So, I am hand digging 13 holes in the yard for the posts instead. Now, this does not include the existing garden that we are pulling the sod up in so that we can make it a giant pumpkin patch.
All that being said, we have been outside working a ton. There is no place I would rather be spending my time with my family, than outside making our place a home. Essential Oils have helped make getting life done a whole lot easier and enjoyable while keeping us from getting sick. We do not get sick often But, when we do our sick protocol, which includes Essential Oils, always aids in recovery.
Essential Oils for use as Health Care
Essential Oils have been a huge part of our health care. I am so grateful I can be in control of health decisions for my family. There is no fear for us with using Essential Oils for our health care. Essential Oils are always our first option when an ailment of any sort arises.
One of my favorite thing about Essential Oils is that they are so versatile! The same oil that helps relieve restless legs also helps heal bruises and calms my baby to sleep. Talk about a money saver! When you really think about all the uses for each oil, you see that Essential Oils cost just pennies per use. Each bottle has over 100, potent drops for use and last for over a month in our home, when using them daily.
My family does actually still have health insurance. Presently, we do not have a large enough emergency savings in place just yet to get rid of insurance. We use insurance very rarely and it’s more for the case of an unfortunate emergency, such as a car accident.
The things we use Essential Oils for range so widely. We use them daily for things like indigestion, nausea, muscle pain, and preventative care. Especially during pregnancy, they come in handy so often for the above listed examples and more.
Essential Oils that I love to use during pregnancy
- DigestZen– This oil has helped relieve any bloating or indigestion that I have had during pregnancy. Dilute for skin sensitivities. It does contain Peppermint so, if breastfeeding, I would recommend using the child blend “Tummy Tamer” instead.
- Black Spruce– Can help relieve chronic pain symptoms as well as help with fatigue.
- Wild Orange– Diffuse and inhale to promote feelings of joy and lift mood.
- Ginger– Helps to relive morning sickness.
- Basil– Can be used to help with things like relaxing, energizing, and detoxing.
- Frankincense– This oil is considered to be the king of all oils and can be used for almost any ailment. I often add Frankincense to any other Essential Oil I choose to use, in order to multiply the affects of that oil
There are so many more Essential Oils that are great for use during pregnancy. The above listed are just a handful of oils I use daily. One of my favorite ways to utilize these oils during pregnancy is to add a drop of two to my bath with pure epsom salt. Magnesium (pure epsom salt) can help relieve muscle cramps and joint pain, as well as energy. The addition of Essential Oils to an epsom salt bath supercharge the benefits.
Listen to your body
During pregnancy, our bodies are more sensitive to everything. It is important to listen to how our bodies respond to the use of each Essential Oil and adjust accordingly.
I find that some oils that I usually use “neat”, without a carrier oil, when I’m not pregnant cause too much irritation during pregnancy. However, often times I’ve found that if I just dilute that Essential Oil with a carrier oil then it is much better. Diluting with a carrier oil, such as Coconut or Olive Oil, does not dilute the effects. In fact, the use of carrier oil with an Essential Oil actually helps prolong the benefits. Always add more carrier oil if a rash or burning occurs during Essential Oil use, especially when pregnant.
Essential Oils work very individually
One misconception is that Essential Oils can be used the same for everyone across the board. This is not so. The beauty of Essential Oils is that you can customize and experiment with different oils to find out what works best for your body and needs. Just because Lavender aids a pregnant friend in sleep, does not mean that it will do the same for me. However, maybe a different Essential Oil can aid me in sleep. It’s all a process of trial and error.
Consistency and potency are key to successfully reaping the benefits from Essential Oils. Try using the same Essential Oil to help aid in healing an ailment several times per day, before you decide to try a different one. Some people’s bodies respond more quickly to Essential Oils. Do not get discouraged, I do believe that they can be useful for everyone if you just give them a consistent chance to do so.
What Essential Oil brand we use
There are so many Essential Oil companies today. Many more than there were even just 10 years ago. The reason I have chosen to trust one sole company is due to their promise to purity.
I love doTERRA Essential Oil company for several reasons. The first reason being that they source their Essential Oils from all over the world. doTERRA finds out where the crop is best grown, according to climate and other conditions, and sources from there.
Going along with this fact, by sourcing this way many jobs are created for small farmers in remote countries. Many lives have been blessed and impacted by the mission of doTERRA. Purity begins at the growing source. Cutting out the middle man and instead working directly with the farmer ensures that the best practices are being followed. Each crop is grown in the best of conditions and harvested at the peak of the season.
Each Essential Oil company is unique. As of now, there is no other company that can compete with the purity commitment that doTERRA makes. It is for this reason that my family will never use another Essential Oil brand. I encourage you to do your research and find out all the facts before deciding on what Essential Oil brand you will use in your home.
